Start:
To start a game, set the times and the mode and then press "start".
After white made the first move, he presses "move" and the black clock starts its countdown. From now on, the turn is passed by pressing move.
Buttons:
All buttons, except of "move" react only to a click. "move" additionally reacts, when it has the focus, to a strike of almost any key (F-keys not included).
Mode:
In the "Normal" mode, only the "total time" counts. A player has exactly the same time to play as it was defined at the beginning.
When you play the "Fischer" mode, the "add. time / move" will be added to your "total time" as soon you made your move.
By the "Bronstein" mode, the "add. time / move" is wasted first, when this time is over and the player still needs more time, the "total time" will be wasted. After a player made a move, the "add. time / move" is set back to the initial value.
End of the game:
The game ends, when the "total time" of one player is up ("-0:00:01") or when you click the "end" button. After that, the applet is (almost) in the initial state, so you can start another game.
Bugs:
strange times: If, after clicking start, you see some strange times, instead of expected ones, then you probably didn't type in the times correctly (only time format mentioned between two textfields is accepted, and it must be complete!)
time is not running:Then try to restart your browser. (Reloading this website leads to this bug)
Offline:
You can easily use this applet offline: just save this webpage and download the applet to the same place (The webpage and the applet must be in the same folder). Now you can open the saved webpage and it will work.
